I am a type 2 diabetic living in France. Before leaving the UK I was prescribed Forxiga in addition to Metformin that I had been taking for several years.
I find in France that Forxiga is not available and have been told by the doctors and pharmacists that it has not been approved for use. It is available without a prescription in Spain and Andorra but is expensive.
On searching the internet I can see that it has been approved by the European Medicins Agency and in a document dated 23 April 2014 it was recommended for approval by HAS (Haute Autorite de Sant) as a dual therapy with Metformin.
Does anyone know why France seem to be continuing to bar its use?
