Just been put on meds for T2D after an HbA1c of 79 and given dapagliflozin. I was already peeing a lot because of untreated diabetes and was told how these tabs work, but was not expecting to be going to the loo every 20 mins! Anyone else on this med who experienced this when they first started taking them. Is this going to be the norm or does the peeing settle down once the body gets used to the medication. Eating healthier foods and cut down a quite a bit on carb intake, but not low carb diet particularly because I don’t want to cause ketoacidosis.

Hi, I’ve been on it since January and the peeing definitely does settle down. I also never got any bladder infections from it (knock on wood) and eat about 120 grams of carbs a day. I know there are other members on this forum who are low carb on it and haven’t had any issues - maybe they can add to this thread. Personally, my doctor told me she didn’t want me giving up carbs, but I’d probably have better control if I did. Even with dapa (Forxiga) and metformin I average between 7 and 10 on my readings 80% of the time, which means my HbA1c is around 60.

Thank for your helpful reply, definitely given me a bit of hope and put my mind at ease. My nurse(who is really approachable and helpful) didn’t really commit one way or the other re carb daily target And just advised eating healthy. So I’m trying to stick to eating non processed food at the moment, can get really boring but fingers crossed I can shed a few pounds.

I have been on Forxiga/dapagliflozin. since Feb 23 and noticed thirst and excessive peeing, this settled down a bit but it has been worse during the warm weather. I am also concerned that I get regular sore throats and I am beginning to wonder if its these pills, as Dr Google says this is likely. Has anyone else had this experience ?
