I was diagnosed as a Type 2 insulin using diabetic about 18 months ago. My diabetic clinic doctor has now suggested that I only have a lantus injection at night and take forxiga. I'm seeing my specialist diabetic nurse and GP in September to discuss this, but in the meantime I've done some research. Whilst it would be great not to have to inject during the day I'm a little concerned that this is a new drug and the long term effects are not known. Does anyone know anything about this tablet? Thanks.

@amdram ...if you put a search in for 'forxiga' at the top of the forum page you will find there have been a number of recent discussions about forxiga here on the forum.
My partner has been on forxiga for the last couple of months now and so far (touch wood) no real problem side effects to speak of....it is worth however being aware of some of the problems that some people have experienced and watching out for any warning signs....best to be prepared as they say....

Thank you for your replies - I've looked at both of your suggestions and they do concern me regarding the long term effects,
as you say 'best be prepared' and also most people on it are not insulin using and lose weight on it. It'll be interesting to see what the specialist diabetic nurse says in September as I don't need to lose weight.
