Hi, i'm really scared as been having really bad symptoms for nearly a year now, like fatigue, chronic nausea and really intense dizziness. Been urinating a lot in the last 2 months and been going to docs now for ages and they were saying it was anxiety what not. Now today they really feel it might be diabetes (my dad and uncle both have it). I'm really scared as ive been so ill for so long and i know how bad that can affect the result.
Having the fasting test tommoz and really scared that i have caught it really late

Don't panic, pinkfrog ! Once you know what it is then, if it is diabetes, we can help you control it.
Please come back and tell us how you get on.

If it is indeed diabetes then you have found the right place for the best advice.
I found looking for stories on here of people (many of which had far higher readings than me) who have got good management of their diabetes really helped me after I was diagnosed.
Ok, being diabetic is something none of us want, but it doesn't have to be a life sentance either.
I'd love to see a place on here where people can post sucess stories so they can easily be found. They are an inspiration and a real help in down times. Just a suggestion.....

Don't worry, you'll be fine. Once you know for certain what the cause of the sympoms is, you can be treated.

My dad and uncle are both diabetic. I was going back to the doctor for ages and ages with all the classic symptoms. It took a health care event at work and a sheet of results before h'd take any notice of me. Once I had got an inclination of what the problem was I developed a taste for low sugar and sugar free options which helped.

Once you have a result and begin treatment, you will feel so much better.

Hi Pinkfrog :)

Hope everything went alright with the test - and you didn't feel tooo green around the gills! You may well not be given the results today and be in limbo for a while so the best thing to do is read as much as you can around the forum. Most of us on here have learnt more by doing this than we would ever have learnt in any other way. :)

What shocks me most is the fact that 2 people in your family are diabetic and the doctor neglected to investigate whether you had diabetics earlier. I was newly diagnosed in March T2 and felt extremely depressed about it. But using this forum has been a great help, reading other peoples problems and the advice given to them has been really helpful especially if you are feeling down just scan a few articles and it helps gives you your goals back.

Hope the results were negative but if not welcome to this forum it really will make a difference to you. If you have been diagnosed and a testing meter tabs etc are not given you ask for them as they are an important role in your controlling your diabetics. If you don't test you will not know what food you react to. Unfortunately many of the practices are not giving them to you. Although the NHS rules say "all new diabetics should be given a meter etc for testing.

Best of luck and look forward to reading you comments on the forum.
Sue

Chin up PF. I went through depression when first diagnosed but I was also relieved as I had known for ages all was not well and I finally had an answer. I certainly agree with the point that diabetes is not a life sentence and the improvements in medication and diabetes management is vastly improved than of a few years ago. Let us know how you get on PF-you are not alone

please try not to worry has this can effect the diabetes, if they not caught it early enough they will soon get you back to good health just try to calm down i know it is better then doing good luck for today hope all is well
