Freaky experience, low blood sugar or something else?

Hi I don't know if anyone here can shed some light on the freakiest experience of my life this morning but I just can't make any sense of it and I'm wondering if it has anything to do with low blood sugar. I am eating low carb and it has been going great but I am finding that if I'm not careful my blood sugar will quite often go too low. This morning I had just finished a long walk and I was about to start making an omelette for breakfast. I cut into the butter and sliced the knife straight through my finger down to the bone. I was fine, I put on a plaster and wrapped it in a cloth. There wasn't much bleeding and it stopped straight away. About 5 minutes afterwards I had the most intense feeling that I was going to pass out and my legs began to buckle, I held onto the bench so I wouldn't hit the floor. My partner came in and I grabbed hold of him and it seemed like I had no control over my body, I was jerking and shaking. I sat down on the couch and I felt like I was going to pass out and I was confused, I felt like I was dying (I never want this to happen again, worst experience of my life) then I had a drink of my coffee and it was all over. For the rest of the day I have felt horrible and I have had to take things slow. Has this happened to anyone else and do you think it has anything to do with blood sugar.

Might have been delayed shock from slicing through your finger 5 mins before, but as you've cut your finger down to the bone your going to need stitches so mention this when you visit your local A & E, good luck.

Thank you I will and in future I'll be more careful with knives. It was just probably delayed shock.

Hi,

I think shock and low blood glucose go hand in hand.
The fight/flight response and all that adrenalin, and the brain working overtime, all burn through glucose like a jet engine burns fuel.
And if you were hungry and about to eat, that will have made things worse.

How are you feeling now?

Yesterday I was a bit shaky all day so I took it easy all day. Today has been better although I find I have been a bit more dizzy than usual.
