Hi after just being diagnosed with type 2 and put on:
metformin

I cant afford the equipment for me to test my bloods and was wondering if anywhere offers help with this?

NHS is such a postcode lottery. I was given one by my GP and prescribed test strips although I’m not on meds. Perhaps a chat with your GP and tell them how motivational it would be? At least to get you started anyway. How are you supposed to know how well you are dealing with reducing your BS? I know they are cost cutting but it will save the NHS money in the long run. Good luck x

Hi. Your surgery may provide a meter by exception. Some meter manufacturers will provide meters free but you would need to buy the strips; ebay can be one lower cost source of these strips. Do try the popular meter suppliers (Google them?) and contact their Customer Services. There is a low-cost meter called the Codefree available on the web as well.
