Just digging through my drawers and I found a box of 50 Bayer contour test strips. They don't expire until november 2013 so obviously someone could use them up before then.

They work with:
[*]Contour
[*]USB
[*]Link
[*]Digit

Any type 2's having restricted access to test strips and has one of those meters can have them. I will be back on about 5pm later today and will do a random number drawer to see who gets them if more than one person has said they would like them.

They are not much use to me now as ive upgraded meter.

What a lovely lot of fellow posters on here, I
Was diagnosed on 4 may only had blood pressure taken at diabetic clinic at surgery - no other checks. Next tests 17 august . In meantime advice 'just watch diet' prescribed statins. No talk of meter testing . Had contacted the lovely freestyle meter people who send me a free meter and 10 strips invested in more lancets and 50 test strips £40 exactly in tesco. Determined to fight for these on prescription in August longer we are off meds the better it must be for nhs. How have others won this prescription battle?

Thanks

Ash

There are some of us T2's who are prescribed strips, but not many. I think a lot depends on your own HCT and their views. My GP (thankfully) is very supportive of T2's who prove they are managing their diabetes. He wouldn't prescribe at diagnosis, but when I went to the clinic for the first time, and he saw I was really working hard, he prescribed them no problem. He even asked how many a day I used and covered the lot.

To the OP. What a lovely gesture, it's really heartwarming to see members of this community helping each other this way.

I had to fight with my previous GP to get strips on prescription. She wasn't happy about prescribing them even though I am type 1 and dependant on insulin.
My new one doesn't give a hoot and prescribes 2 boxes at a time as the system wont let him prescribe more than that.

Oh well once wirelad has sent me his address if he wants them I will pop them in the post. I dont have a use for them so I might as well give them to someone who could use them
