What do people think about the freestyle Libre 2 sensor which uses Bluetoot?
 
Hi, I started on the libre freestyle 2 sensor with Bluetooth about a month ago and it’s been an amazing piece of tech. I am only on sensor number 2 p, due to change this Saturday but it has helped me immensely in the last month.
 
I have used the sensor for a few months, I really find it helpful. But I prefer to use the reader I started with instead of my mobile. As it is smaller and fits in my pocket easier. Also doesn’t need charging daily. If I want to get constant reads I would have to use my mobil. Is it worth the change.

Well it is worth it to me. It all works well and I can now use my super new insulin pen to input my doses. It is easier to alter notes on the phone also. It used to irritate me immensely that 5 minutes after logging something, you couldn’t go in and change it. Plus the phone is always with me anyway.
 
Before Libre did it natively, I used Bluetooth with apps and add-ons like the Miaomiao.
I found it much easier and discrete than scanning so would check my BG far more often.
When sitting at my desk at work, I would just glance at my phone to get my latest results and decide whether I needed to tweak anything.
This suits me far better than using alarms which can go off at the most inopportune moments. With Bluetooth, I check the phone before going into a meeting and know I will be fine for the duration. I often "couldn't be bothered" to scan, partially because it was so obvious what I was doing and drew attention to my diabetes as much as pricking my finger.

Like @becca59 my phone is always with me so the reader disappeared years ago ... I am probe to mislay things so that was just something else to mislay.
 
Thanks for speedy replies. My mind is now made up. I will be giving it a go when I put my next sensor on.

Its amazing - been using the Libre2 and bluetooth to phone and watch for years (the functions were implemented with the first L2, they just didn't put it in the app).

You can read the data with xDrip+ (DIY App you have to install/sideload on your phone) and feed it to a watch and set alarms (saved me many times in the night).
You can then set-up a artificial pancreas (closed loop) on-top of that - lot of technology but its amazing stuff and means I never have a nighttime low, get warnings when it heads lower than I'd like (set different when driving) etc etc - life changing

I’ve had a Libre2 for 6 months now. It’s changed everything about how I control my glucose and also can learn what food goes what to me.


TOP TIP. Had a bit of trouble with the sensor falling off early , as many people do.
My wife has solved this for me - she sprays my arm with hair lacquer before applying the sensor. Not had a problem since - it sticks sooo firmly.
I’m sure Abbott won’t endorse this as it won’t have been trialled but I just mention it for those who are having trouble with them falling off

I stick sports tape over sensor. This saves it from been knocked off. But I do find the sensors are sticking better over the last few months
