I think that's wise. I've always just used the reader and everything has worked perfectly well. The odd sensor has been replaced by Abbott but I'm all for keeping things simple & as reliable as possible. Interestingly the Reader Meter alarm screams if it's apart or away from the sensor on your arm for too long !
Sensor failure seems to be par for the course with Libre. My original Libre was much more reliable - the failure rate seems to have increased with Libre 2. I seem to be averaging about 3-5 sensor failures per year now. Abbott are very good about replacing them as I don't see why my surgery should foot the bill but it's still frustrating. Occasionally I've had an use with the sensor communicating with the app (can't say it's specific to one arm) but mostly it's just complete sensor failure. I'd be interested to know if the alternative to the Libre is more reliable. Does anyone have any advice on that?
That is true. My husband had to have ambulance out because of this very problem. Sensor wasn't giving correct reading but not enough to think any different. But was low enough that I couldn't rouse him. It was horrendous couple of hrs. Daughter got hold of Abbots and said about the faulty sensor and what had happened they weren't really bothered just said sorry about it.
Whenever I contact Abbot to have a sensor replaced they always ask whether any medical intervention was required. In my case the answer has always been no (long may it last), but I assume they ought to do something that isn't fobbing you (or your daughter) off, if intervention was needed. At the very least replacing the sensor.
