Freestyle Libre 1 Reader

Hello, I need to find a Freestyle Libre 1 Reader... Does anyone have a new one or know where I can get one that I can buy? All the shops seem to only have Freestyle Libre 2 Readers as they transition over to the Libre 2, but I just need a Libre 1 Reader.

As the Libre 1 sensors will be discontinued from 31/12/2022 I doubt that you will be able to obtain a reader unless some one still has theirs from their libre 1 days and as far as I can tell from Abbott's site they are no longer providing readers for the sensor 2 in the starter packs just the app.

Yes, that is my experience... I hoped someone might have a spare backup meter or a new one from old stock...

Unfortunately I have no Idea where my libre 1 reader is or what happened to it or I could have passed it on to you I am unsure as what use it would have when libre 1 sensors are no longer available but I am sure you have your reasons.

@phillipneilmartin it might be worth checking on eBay as they often have old meters etc for sale.

And, John, I still have my old Libre 1 reader, and use it occasionally as a ketone test meter.

Yes I used to do the same but you can do that with the libre 2 reader as well.

Could you please elaborate on using the libre 2 sensor reader to check ketones. How does that work?

Libre sensor reader can be used with test strips for blood glucose and Ketone test strips

Then carry on using the Libre 1 reader with the strips.

But the libre 1 sensors are being discontinued at the end of this month

For finger prick testing blood glucose and ketones there are several meters that will do that for far less than the cost of a libre reader.
