Freestyle Libre 2 Reader - Does it work?

I can confirm that the alarm on *my* reader does not seem to be working. I set the low glucose alarm to 5.5
My readings across the last two hours were 7.0, 6.7, 4.9. No alarm :/ I'm not hypo, so not confused, and the reader is sitting right next to me on my desk. Something seems to be wrong. Googling the manual

Edit: this is the first time I've used the reader and not my android so I might be doing something wrong. I stopped using the android app for this sensor because Abbot sent me an email saying that alarms were not working properly with Android 13 which I updated to last week. But 4.9 should have set off the alarm on my reader so maybe it's a more widespread problem???? I don't mind during the day because I check fairly constantly but my usual 3AM low does worry me. Maybe I'll just set a different alarm to wake me up at 3AM to check

That sucks, I don't Believe its the app, I think its the fact they have probably outsourced mfg and there is a quality control issue, But if they blame the phones and apps they dont have to honour warranty, I am going to send 20 back and maybe switch to dexcom. Its about a hundred dollars
more a month for me

I got an email regarding Android 13 and problems with the app as well, so I'm using the reader this month instead of my phone. I had my "usual" 3 AM hypo last night and the alarm didn't go off. Either that or I somehow slept through it. The other potential reason I can think of is that my alarm is set quite high (4.3). The alarm did go off at about midnight but it looks like, apart from 3AM low which I missed, I was 4.1-4.2 all night and so the alarm didn't go off again because BSL hadn't risen above the 4.3 threshold??? Is that how it works? I dunno. I might try and do some testing today

Read the 'instruction' leaflet ? ( you won't get another alarm UNLESS the reading doesn't go above set alarm )
Set my low for 4.0 as this gives me time to do something about bs getting any lower

I've now read the instruction leaflets from several countries. They're all different despite having the same behaviour as far as I can tell. E.g. not related, but the Australian leaflet says you cannot put a breathable patch over the sensor, the Canadian version says you can as long as you put it on at the same time of the sensor. Which to believe?

You have to start a new sensor with the reader not the app in order to get the alarms then start the sensor with the app to get readings- - It's a mine field ! ... also , if you're using Libreview you will have upload the data from the reader.. Good luck , it's really not hard to do
Think I'll be looking into changing to Dexcom - Your thoughts ?

E.g. not related, but the Australian leaflet says you cannot put a breathable patch over the sensor, the Canadian version says you can as long as you put it on at the same time of the sensor. Which to believe?

Yes you can wear a cover over sensor whether using app or reader (I have but don't use)

You have to start a new sensor with the reader not the app in order to get the alarms then start the sensor with the app to get readings- - It's a mine field ! ... also , if you're using Libreview you will have upload the data from the reader.. Good luck , it's really not hard to do

Yes you can wear a cover over sensor whether using app or reader (I have but don't use)

Oh dear - I don't know what to suggest- In my mind all should work so long as you've 'paired the sensor first with the reader. Have you checked settings are correct and om ? Speak with Abbott if you're not able to solve the issue with others 'answers'

Oops, Android 13 not 14. But the sensor is paired with my reader not my phone this time. I am saying that I did not get an alarm this afternoon from my reader when it dropped below the threshold and I was previously well above it.

Yes I have always used a patch and now another company comes with a hard plastic cover that goes over the sensor and held in place with the patch all of wich worked fine until the last 10 or so sensors, I do notice that it loses signal complety when I lay on that side on a memory foam matress wich makes sense to me. Is it possible that is what happen?
