Hello, sorry if this has already been posted. You can now connect and store your NovoPen 6 and NovoPen 5plus insulin dose in the Libre app. I’m so pleased that this has finally happened. You have to connect your pens initially and then You scan your pen within the app and it will store every dose. Look at the menu on the left hand side for the new function.

Great news. Im always too busy or ‘lazy’ to store my doses manually. I didnt even know novopens have bluetooth nowadays (still using flexpens). Might give this a try.

I have seen that the Libre will take all doses from the NovoPen.
Unfortunately, this includes the starting "airshot".
I guess if you know every insulin dose recorded is 1unit more than you inject, it is not a huge issues but useful to know.

Hello, there is a drop down menu after you have scanned and there is an option for a airshot. I always do 2 units a airshot twice, so I know that any insulin given after that would of injected. I don’t know if doing a airshot twice is or isn’t needed but it’s just a habit over the years that I have.

Yes I was just the same as you for recording my record’s of insulin/carbs. It is a smart pen that you fill with insulin cartridges. I am really trying hard to record my entries straight away, but obviously I’m not 100% there yet. As life as always gets in the way and it’s only a few seconds job. I ask my DSN whilst I was doing a DAFNE course and she got hold of them for me. I asked my doctor initially for them but she said that they didn’t do them on prescription, in fact she didn’t know anything about them . I even called nordisk and asked if I could buy one and they said that they are available on prescription and they do not sell them. Good luck to you and everyone as they do take a bit of pressure off with managing our diabetes.

It always amazes me how many GPs in primary care suffer what can only be described as the most acute case of amnesia which renders them incapable of prescribing new drugs/medical devices when it has to come out of their budgets (which come from our taxes). Strange that!

Hi, sorry to bother you but do you happen to have the pharmacy pip code for these please. Thanks

Why do you need the pharmacy pip code this works just by scanning direct into the app. You have to distinguish between insulin pens before you scan but it works fine.

I'm really sorry no I don't have the pharmacy pip code, as I just asked for one by name. All that I can do is suggest to you there Novo Nordisk contact number Tel: 0800 023 2573 (8.30am to 5.30pm weekdays and Bank Holidays). If you give them a call and ask for the pip code from them and hopefully they will help you. Just to let you know that the Novopen 6 only deliveries full units and not half units, as the Novopen Echo pen 5plus does half units. Let us know how you get on:)

Am I right in thinking either your GP or your pharmacist has asked you to provide the PIP codes for these insulin pens?

Hi, thanks for getting in touch. I took your advice and asked for it by name! I do like to complicate things . Got one this afternoon and set it up, am quietly impressed with it. Thanks again

Thanks for coming back to me. You are right, no idea why they needed it but took the advice from others on the site and used the brand name when I got through to the diabetes centre and they left two on reception for me, note to self keep it simple!

I thought so.

It is terribly wrong - and unprofessional - for a pharmacist or a GP to ask an ordinary consumer (a patient like you) to provide purchasing and supply information such as PIP codes for a medical product.

It is THEIR job to know that detail, or to be able to obtain the information from the extensive medical manufacturer product data they have ready access to. It isn't your job.

Brilliant I am so pleased that you have your pens now and that they are a big help for you.
