Freestyle libre issues

Hi all I’m looking to see if others are experiencing similar issues as I am with their recent libre sensors. I’ve been using them for 2 years with little issue however my last 4 sensors have had issues - 2 have failed half way through and stated replace sensor as it’s not working, 1 failed immediately from the 1st scan and another was giving very spurious readings compared to my actual BG levels. As I’ve been using them for 2 years without issues previously I really don’t think it’s an issue with the application. This last sensor was constantly reading ‘LO’ even though my BG’s were around 6 or 7 then threw in the odd ‘try again in 10 mins’ in the last 24 hours and finally gave me the faulty sensor message about an hour ago. Just wondered if the volume of supply is possibly leading to quality issues and are other people are seeing similar problems? Thanks look forward to seeing replies..

If you have had 4 sensors in row with errors then it seems very unlucky. I have had all those problems but not in succession.

Apologies, within the 4 mentioned above, I did have one sensor that was ok. I agree must be really unlucky OR maybe there is a quality issue. Was hoping to find out on this forum if anyone else had faced more issues than usual.

I had a sensor a couple of weeks ago that stopped working, and when I took it off the needle had somehow been bent, and sometimes I've been asked to retest in ten minutes but usually it works fine. Other than that I don't have a problem with the sensors, although it claims my sugars are a bit lower than what I'd expect them to be.

I have also had similar problems about 2 months ago, had 1 sensor that was reading low, checked several times against BG machine, then replaced it, the 1 before failed after 5-6 days. I've had 3 others that have given faulty sensor message but this is over 2 years+ and the recent sensors have appeared to be giving good readings, I do check against my BG readings every now and then to make sure. I've also found that the company will send a new, replacement sensor, no argument and just asked for the faulty sensor to be returned in the envelope they sent.

I’ve been using Libre on and off for about 5.5 years now (I bought one when they were first released self funded, then for the last year on prescription).

In the early days they all worked perfectly. Then there was a long period where supply was short, you could only order if you were an existing customer etc. Then suddenly supply improved, and I started having quality issues. I certainly think the two are linked, either they’ve used a new factory/assembly line which doesn’t make to the same standards or they’ve changed something to speed up production. Either way I have issues with about half my sensors. They do always replace them but it’s a faff I’d rather avoid.

I’ve only recently started using libre but have had 3 sensors fail to do the full time. I Just started getting try again in 10 mins every other scan and then they just gave up. Out of 5 I’ve had since starting, only two have lasted without fault. I’ve discussed placing and application with dsn and she was in agreement I was applying correctly.

I scan with the scanner not phone which may make a difference.

either way abbot have immediately agreed to replace as soon as i give the error codes, so it does strike me it might be a quality issue.

I also have various failed sensors initially I had to report the fault for Abbott Customer Help and I received a number of replacements as this was happening every time. At most it failed between day 8 to day 10. I asked Customer Help if I could speak to someone or once I returned the faulty sensor could I get a feed back on the possible cause thing it was something I was doing wrong? No one ever contact me regarding the issue. Now I am getting the sensor via prescription, I still get the odd failed sensor after 8 days use. I will just continue to expect sensors to fail in future.
