FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!



I don't think gmail will allow a big enough attachment for the software,but I'll try it anyway, but if it doesn't work I can also send a link to a copy of the software in my google drive which you should be able to download.

Update: Just checked and google wont let you send or receive .exe files in email,so you will probably need to use the link from google drive

thanks, you are right about attachment, Google drive will probably be the best way.

BTW, if you want to send an exe file you just need to change the exe extension (windows has to be configured to show known extension of files ), or zip it and send. .

For some reason my email provider didn't like the email for some reason,but has gone now,so should be with you. I did think of changing the extension,but did not know if you would know how to put it back to .exe, as quite a lot of people don't. I suppose its a good idea from gmails point of view,but a bit of a pain when you have to work around it.

Just started sensor no 5 after short interval resulting from Abbott ****** up a delivery. Now the good side of having had three inaccurate sensors to begin: nos 4 and 5 are wonderful, within 0.3 mmol most of the time. It is such a help, especially at a quite frightening time as my honeymoon appears to be ebbing fast. Just to see what my insulin is doing, and when I do/don't need to do anything about it fast, esp in the middle of the night, is so wonderful. Such a comfort.
 
Reading this thread with great interest, as a long time dexcom user, very keen to try this out on cost grounds as soon as back available in the UK. Certainly won't miss the alarm function and no other downside really. Also would way prefer arm siting to belly, although interested in experience of those with lean or muscular arms, does it not make it difficult to find enough flesh?

I do think some that are new to cgm with the libre may have slightly high expectations, though. The level of inaccuracy, time to settle in during which it's often haywire and degradation of accuracy over sensor time all sounds comparable to "full" cgm experience. But the trend and real-time data are massive nonetheless. Also given that the meters we compare against are themselves so inaccurate! In fact, the double calibration required at the start of a dexcom sensor life is often scary as two immediately consecutive finger pricks on the same meter are often 1-2 mmol apart.

Ultimately the tools are all a fair bit flawed, and I think the libre is close to a great leap forward. All the benefit at half the cost as well as way fewer strips has to mean easier funding over time?

Please do keep feeding back, it's interesting to try and work out what is short term development & roll out issues vs. likely long term performance. But don't think cgms are better!

Yes it's not too easy to find enough 'flesh' if you have muscular arms I can confirm. I think there's about 2 different spots on each arm (in my case) where you can put it without inserting directly into muscles. An alternative spot to put it would be

What about your bgm? I have used the contour next and one touch ultra and never exerienced huge differences while double checking..

My sensors been a bit cold and switches off now and then. Not for long though.

My libre saved me from another big hypo yesterday, I haven't hypo'd in the day for a long time now as I can preempt them

 
Quite impressed. Abbott must have sorted out the delivery gremlins. I reported the issue of skin irritation last Monday and two new sensors delivered first thing today. Given Xmas and a weekend inbetween that is impressive. Looking at the tracking they reached the UK on the 23rd so must have been sent pretty snappy. Good work guys. Now just having to wait for arms to settle down. Seeing GP next week in diabetes clinic so will be discussing it.

Thanks, generally use a one touch ultra also, it's not every time just sometimes, but if the regulation is +-10 -15% it's not all that surprising? Dexcom definitely WAY less accurate for the first 24 hrs and worsens through unofficially extended second week, and even during the peak period is more approximate when out of range. Ie it''ll be high but often 3-4 mmol different to meter as soon as above say 7-8 (hopefully not often!). And at least sometimes it just gets a bit confused and I'll dose wrongly as a result. But even if it's a bit imprecise, the ability to preempt both high and low makes a huge difference. I've also had about 3 duff sensors replaced this year, although good customer service. Mainly bringing up as I think the libre experience sounds certainly no worse?!
 
Further to my earlier posts Sensor number 6 unstuck itself yesterday with 6 days remaining. Like the sensor no. 5 on the other arm, this one felt itchy and as you can see from the picture its not a pretty site! I have logged the information with Abbott as well as pictures and they are sending a replacement. I will be waiting a while before using sensor no. 7.

I've been using the Libre since it's launch and for me it's proving invaluable, it seems to be accurate (allowing for the usual discrepancies) and is so convenient, it's just the cost but I'm fortunately able to cut back on other things so I can afford it. For those who have had the reaction have you tried a barrier cream/spray? I have reactions to the adhesive on my pump cannula and was recommended Cavilon spray, it's fantastic, no more sore horrible red marks. I'm using this for the Libre too and also no reaction (thankfully).
 

Would Cavilon work with the sensors bearing in mind you have to wipe the skin thoroughly with the provided alcoholic wipe before applying the sensor?
 
Hi Minnie45. I was assuming Abbot gives the alcohol wipe to remove any grease and improve adhesion. I was wondering if a barrier cream or something would work but won't the barrier impact the adhesive? Do you fine the cannula stays firmly attached? Thanks.
 
It seems to work fine, I always do a comparison at the beginning and any time I'm seeing rapid changes, etc., and it's pretty spot on (obviously allowing for differences in meters etc). I still use the alcohol wipe at first, then a spray of cavilon, then I attach the sensor. The senor has stayed put for the full 14 days too. I can't promise it will work for everyone as we're all different but it's working well for me

Oh Andy that looks awful - really sore. I think if I have that reaction at all I'll stop using it. I had a mild reaction to the last sensor and this one has been itching slightly over the last day, but as tomorrow is changeover day I'm leaving it until then to check. If I've any skin issue tomorrow when I remove it I'll report it to Abbotts.

The problem I have with putting my new sensor on later is that I don't think I now have any spot in the right region that would avoid at least some overlap with the previous sensor. There's only about two places on each arm that would prevent an overlap - and I wasn't that aware or careful with the first couple, so I cut down on the locations unknowingly!
