I HAVE BEEN USING THE FREESTYLE LIBRE (SELF FUNDING) FOR A WHILE NOW AND FIND IT FANTASTIC ALTHOUGH VERY EXPENSIVE.

I KEEP GETTING A MESSAGE SAYING "GLUCOSE READING IS NOT AVAILABLE. TRY SCANNING AGAIN IN 10 MINUTES". THIS KEEPS HAPPENING AND I HAVE TO USE MY OLD BLOOD METER. I DID RING THE HELPLINE AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD SEND ME A NEW SENSOR FREE OF CHARGE AND I HAD TO RETURN THE FAULTY SENSOR. I PUT A NEW SENSOR ON AND AFTER ABOUT A WEEK OF USING IT, IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN.

AS I AM SELF FUNDING I CAN NOT AFFORD TO KEEP REPLACING THE SENSOR WHEN IT GOES WRONG. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND DO THEY KEEP RINGING THE HELPLINE FOR A NEW SENSOR..

When do you get the message? I get it sometimes at night so I‘ve presumed its maybe if I lie on it

Get in touch with Abbots again. They are more than helpful (99% of the time). They will replace 3 sensors per month IF they are faulty

I had the same problem a few months ago with 2 sensors one after the other, when i called both times i told them i was using reader and app on my sensor, both times they asked about info re my phone, first person i spoke to was happy with my phone however when i rang about the second one breaking i was told it was because its running on android 7 and the app was for over android 4 and up to 7!! I was not convinced as i emailed abbott 3 times to ask for confirmation and didnt recieve 1 reply!! Yet their website stated android 4 and above! I did try pairing 1 more sensor with phone but stopped using it as again got the 10 minute wait message.
I have now downloaded the new app and used it on my current sensor which ends tomorrow and had no problems.
I did get both sensors replaced thankfully as like you I self fund.

I'd just call Abbott again.. like the others I have always found them to be very helpful.

If you're lucky you may be able to purchase them over the counter at a pharmacist at a cheaper price. Boots HQ have said they will sell the sensor at the same cost as Abbott but it depends on the branch you use and if they've bothered to read the email from HQ, they may say the initial cost is more and then depending on who serves you when they come to take the VAT off the way the tills are programmed it sometimes resorts to their cost price of £35 - suggest you bite their arm off!, Asda pharmacies should sell to you at £44 as directed by their HQ, you might be able to strike a deal with an independent pharmacist also. But also be aware some/most pharmacists haven't got a clue either - they need to setup a business account with Abbott or go via the HQ, they all usually get free 24hr delivery though which is not to be sniffed at in the current climate of at least a 2 week delivery time direct from Abbott.
