The screen is bright enough - were you thinking of the Optium Neo? The brightness and touch-screen on that leave a lot to be desired.

It was the Insulinx.. That meter drove me crazy.. lol The pictorial representation of the screen readout is not true to life.. It's certainly brighter than that image of the insulinx, although it does appear to have the same form factor.

Here's a picture of mine next to a Neo in case that gives an approximation of brightness

Thanks for the feedback.. Yep, even your older freestyle has a better clarity of screen..

Here is mine after I dug it out. Reading it face on was a nightmare. The best angle is as pictured. But still a little fuzzy.
As you can see the rest of the unit is relatively in focus using an iPad camara.. There was no option to change the contrast on the meter either..
