Freestyle Libre Starter Pack Size And Weight.

I'm about to order a Libre Starter pack and have it sent by courier to New Zealand from a UK address I'm supplying to Abbott. I want to know the package dimensions and weight to give me an accurate cost of freight from the UK to NZ. Would someone please be able to give me these details accurately.
Thanks, JimMax.

I have the box that was sent to me with two new sensors but I can't find the box that the Starter Pack came in. I have probably thrown that out. So, I don't know if this will help you.

The box with the Reader, plus two boxes each with a new sensor, in the box I have here, without any paper padding of which a little would be needed, all weighs 498 gms. The box measures just under 6" x 6" x 8.5".

So, what I am saying is, if you unpacked the box that the Starter pack came in and re-packed it into a smaller box of the above dimensions, with a bit of padding too, I would reckon on just over 500gms, approx.

I hope that helps
Julie

Thanks Julie, the package won't be repacked. It will be sent on in the same packaging it is received from Abbott. Could you have a guess as to the dimensions of it. JimMax.

Hi

Maybe 10" x 8" x 8" - at a random guess, looking at the box I have here. Also, you would need to add some weight for the brown paper stuffed loosely in the box. I can't think the box would be much larger than this but maybe allow another 2" all around.
Another idea has just occured to me. If you have access to Facebook, Abbott Freestyle Libre have a page/site/accouint or whatever. It's very active and it's very likely that someone on there would be able to weigh and measure the Starter Pack box they've just recently received, thus giving you more accurate information.

I've just signed in to my account, and had a look, and I can't find it either. I imagine that's probably because the delivery charge is fixed for UK, so there's really no need to any additional information, bearing in mind someone needs to sign for it (therefore no need for it to go through a letterbox or the like).

I'd say if you estimated the package size to be around a smallish shoebox size, and it'll certainly be under 1kg (where I believe many couriers/PO set some of their price brackets are set). The sensor box has more to it than the sensors, in that there is a plug, USB cable and a chunky booklet in it too.

Are you permanently in NZ? Wouldn't Australia be an easier route; especially should you require any support for sensors or whatever?

Odd, have you tried asking them over the phone?
I can't use the Abbott Freestyle Libre UK freephone from here and I'm sure the call center won't have this info handy. Maybe you could call them for me to find out the package dimensions and weight. It would be much appreciated.

Australia won't yet deliver to NZ and my delivery service (NZ Post) cannot supply me with a postal address in Australia.
I expect NZ to receive the Freestyle Libre from Abbott at the beginning of next year. I'm just keen to get it a bit sooner because I want to take a holiday trip (in NZ).

Hi jimmax
I have now had two replies but neither are of much help to you, I fear. The first reply gave the dimensions and weight of the box with ther Reader etc, and the dimensions of the sensor boxes, which doesn't help.

The second response is not helpful either - "Unfortunately it different parcel sizes, my starter pack came in quite a small box. Yet when people have posted their parcel arrival as it is not the insides, if has been alot larger! Depends on the depo's where it is sent from."

So, even phoning Abbott won't help you, it would seem. All I can suggest is to calculate on the bases that the box will possibly be a bit larger than 10x8x8" and will weigh approx 560gms (which would include the plug and cable - as I forgot to include in my original weighing) plus some paper padding inside the box, so maybe allow 600gms. I can't see that the package will be much more than 10 x 8 x 8", to be honest.

Failing that, wait until your package arrives; then you'd be able to measure and weigh it before organising a courier to send it on.

Sorry but I can't see how anyone can get any more accurate information. Good luck.

.

I'll go with this. I think the dimensions are more important than the weight because of the low density.

Thanks very much Energize for all your help.

Sorry I couldn't get the precise information you wanted. However, I'm sure you'll be able to decide on a sizing that the courier offers which will allow for some variation without extra costing.

Best of luck and I hope the recipient gets great benefit from the Libre. I think it's great and seems to have helped my glucose levels / potential a1c to surprise my GP and DN :)
