Hi All, hopefully this hasn't been posted here before and apologies if it has, but thought I would share this information with you.
My son received this letter this morning:

We have had notification from the Medicines and Healthcare Products Agency advising us that the following test strips have been affected by a manufacturing error.
* Lot Number 1284962 Expiry 06/2014
* Lot Number 136626 Expiry 12/2014
* Lot Number 1372611 Expiry 02/2015

This means that any of the above affected strips may produce inaccurate low blood glucose results with the below meters:

* FreeStyle, FreeStyle Mini and FreeStyle Navigator blood glucose meters (manufactured by Abbott Diabetes Care)
*FreeStyle blood glucose meter built into the OmniPod insulin management system (manufactured by Insulet Corporation)

There are no other Abbots Diabetes Care strip lots or products affected by this issue.

It then went on to state that if you have any of these strips to contact your dispensary for further advice/ action.

I had these strips and some of yhe batch numbers for my Navigator cgm. I complained that the Navigator was giving low readings over night compated to my pump readings. During the day, the readings were also low compared to pump readings.

I phoned Abbott and also complained to MHRA and got told the cgm was fine.. I knew it was hiving false readings, but never yhought it was the strips. Abbott even told me that unless I got up at 3am and washed my hands that the readings were not accurate... I have never had Accuchek tell me to get up and wash my hands at 3am.

Why can't these Companies listen to their customers... Or more to the point.. They get given so much money by the NHS... Why cant they have hood quality controls in place in the first place?
