Hello every one nice to meet you all :)

I have been type 1 for 15 years. My last hba1c was 7.5 lowest ever one they have been around 10 before.

I need to empty my bladder every hour with it being full while I'm awake and every two hours at night with bg of 6.5mm/l. I have also recently had to dial back by levimir from 22units to 15units at night or I have a bad hypo which I don't always wake up to until it's between 1. And 1.5mm/l and I am blind when it's this low but have always managed to sort it myself without medical attention.

I also feel very sick all of the time and have slightly swollen feet. I'm not very active due to my severe fibromyalgia. I'm having blood test and urine tests this week as part of my 6 month review was just wondering if any of you had similar symptoms and what your diagnosis is so I can prepare myself.

Many thanks

Welcome to the forum @Afon

I was going to suggest a urine test but see that you've done that already, see what results come back as it may just be something simple as urine infection if the urgency to pee has only recently come about.

Hope the reduction in basal insulin works, hypo's (especially at night) are not very nice and something you can do without. Keep us updated on your progress. Good luck.

Hi. It looks like you do need some medical support to get your Basal balance right. That blood sugar level is quite good so your diabetes is not likely to be the cause of frequent visits to the loo. There could be many causes such as an infection or prostate problems if you are male. Do see the GP to get it checked out.

Hi

Thank you for your replies.

Should have said I'm female so prostate won't be a problem :)

Will let you know results when I get them but fingers crossed its a simple infection though it doesn't feel like infection as have no common symptoms of infection.

Thank you again.

If your bladder is actually full every hour rather than just feeling the urge to go frequently then not passing much urine, you need to make sure your GP understands that so it can be investigated - the implications are very different.

Thank you @Dark Horse it is full every time and only get urge to go when it's full. Don't have any trouble passing urine. I'm dropping in my urine sample tomorrow to my diabetic nurse to test and have written a note with my symptoms ( making sure I have stated full bladder). My nurse said she would test it tomorrow and if needed will then send to the lab if required. My blood tests are on Friday so should have the results wednesday. The surgery will only call if there are any abnormal tests but I will make sure I call to confirm as my appointment with my nurse is first week of May though I'm sure she will check the results before I attend and I have gp appointment straight after.

Hiya

I am on the same journey!!!

Basically a few years ago I had frequency issues but my bloods were OK. I can only speak for me with this one as the bladder is so different. However I've had bladder scans, gyno referrals tests for another type of diabetes that has urine issues.
Eventually after a year of pocking and prodding they came to the conclusion that my pancreas has moved and is applying pressure on my other organs yay!! I now take tablets which have been great and go to a bladder clinic. My suggestion is start with your GP ask if they can investigate. I am 15 years with the condition too

Thank you every one.

No infection found in urine sample so has been sent to the lab for more tests.

Just waiting for blood test on Friday.

Thank you all for your help and will let you know the results.

Hi all just seen my nurse and gp. No infection and kidneys working normally so my nurse is making an appointment for me to see a specialist nurse and her team regarding the urination.

Will let you know how that goes when I have seen them.

All the best

Hello again :)

Turns out I have an over sensitive bladder which I can now work with and try to sort it out.

I have also been put on toujeo. Is any one else using this basal insulin?

Hope all is well with every one.

All the best

It's a good idea to get this followed up by docs. I have been diagnosed with a bladder condition called interstitial cystitis (IC). Mind you I have UTI symptoms all the time which includes pain, frequency, urgency, burning, etc (that's the symptoms of IC too). I react to some foods and drinks so I've had to change my diet. You may not have that, but you may have something else going on that needs attention. I go to the toilet every hour myself but at least I know why.

oh oops sorry missed your last post. Do they know why it is over sensitive? Are you reacting to foods, drinks, etc?

Hello @Mep

No idea why it's over sensitive but I don't have any symptoms of uti. It just has a need to void every hour with as little as 100ml. I have been told when I need to pee to try and hold it for an extra 15 mins before going and try to increase this time slowly. Should this not help I will ask for referral to bladder expert.

Many thanks for your help.
