Should I be frying bacon and not grilling? Ive always grilled but ive seen others who fry ?? Confused

Do whichever you prefer and suits your kitchen arrangements. I suspect it's easier to clean a frying pan than a grill pan!

I fry everything as I like to keep up the fat content of my diet, and I think it tastes better. But it's all a matter of taste.

I fry mostly, either with butter, cold pressed rape seed oil or olive oil sometimes coconut oil I don't use the processed vegetable oils .

Mind you lard or beef dripping I like also.

If you want to keep in ketosis and lose weight then you need to keep your fat intake higher than recommended by the low fat lobby. You don't need to stop grilling bacon, but it seems a pity to use the grill when not necessary. I have bacon frozen and forget to take it out to thaw, so I boil it - just use the frying pan, cover the frozen bacon with hot water and simmer it until it melts - it also removes salt and some of the preserving chemicals and, I am told, something called free radicles, which aren't good for you. When it is melted I pour off the water and cook the bacon until it becomes crispy on the edges, then I use the fat from it to cook mushrooms and eggs.

It depends what I want to do for the rest of the meal. Sometimes the bacon fat is useful in the pan to cook other things, and sometimes I put it in the oven, set the timer, and want to walk away. :). Other times I mop the fat off the bacon with a paper towel.

There really are no set rules on this - low carbing needs to fit with your life and your tastes :)

If you are aiming at ketosis (not everyone does) then it is far more important to drop your carbs, and avoid too much protein. If your body wants more fat, it can raid your own fat stores or ask for more by getting hungry. No need to massively increase fat intake unless you are hungry. Just eat to your appetite, which usually naturally drops when in ketosis.

I've always grilled my bacon (and sausages), and now I can - free from guilt - mop up any residiual fat from the grill pan with a (low carb) "dip butty".

Other foods I'll grill, fry, or microwave according to what i fancy at the time. For me what I cook (low-carb-wise) is much more important than how I cook it...
