What is going on?????????
Admitted to hospital with DKA on 30th Aug, in for 4 days, diagnosed with diabetes, & started on Insulin 40 am & 30pm and Metformin 1x500mg am and 1x500mg pm. Kept getting high scores so Insulin increased 50 am and 40 pm. Then readings levelled and came into normal range. Then in last 2 weeks hypos nearly every-day so been reducing my Insulin back to 40 & 30. Then 4 days ago stopped taking any Insulin but continued with the Metfromin and my readings have been normal. All tests for type 1 diabetes and other stuff, have all come back negative. Overweight and put on a stone since leaving hospital, I have improved my diet a bit but still have a drink and eat out.
Why has it gone from so bad to so good so quickly?

Hello and welcome paddy
It's good news that you are heading in the right direction and the now ,medication appears to be working, but were you told what type of diabetes you have, as you have said Type1 tests have come back negative/normal. Reading your post it does sound like Type 2? but there is also LADA/MODY. There are some members on here who are these type's, but I would definitely seek some advice about what it going on with your diabetes. Can you go and see your GP or DSN ( if you have one yet)? It must be so confusing for you.

Good luck, with best wishes RRB

Hi RRB and thanks for the reply
I was told at first that I had type 1 but now they think it is type 2
I saw my DSN 2 days ago and she said carry on but start taking insulin if my BG goes up
But she said it was very strange that my BG was down
Cheers Pat

Honeymoon period perhaps? Some type 1's can go weeks or months with little or no insulin during the honeymoon period and hold good numbers.
