Guys need some help,I had berries and orange and plum last night with 2 spoons of Greek yoghurt and a coffee with milk.i had an unsettled night didn't sleep well and my sugars were 9.1 on waking
So what do you think was it the coffee or the fruit
Thanks as always had salad for lunch and gluten free sausages, eggs, mushrooms and tomatoes and back to 5.5 2 hrs later

The chances of it being the coffee/milk are very slim unless you put a liter of milk in your coffee.

It's almost certainly the fruit/yoghurt considering that combo probably had 20-40g of carbs in it depending on how much you ate.

It was probably orange and plum. Orange is about 10g of carbs, plum similar. It could all add up to amount of carbs your body cant handle well

I ate a single plum on its own recently. It shot me to double figures, and that was without any yogurt or other items.

I suggest you test out these fruits - test before and a couple of hours after first bite and see what happens.

Still learning thanks for this, was hoping it was the fruit, trying to be healthy is weird on low carb need to buy a book me thinks. Once again thanks

Probably the safest fruits will be blackberries, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries.

Just an update have had no more plums or oranges but have had coffee and I haven't had any more swings as such, thanks for the advice

Try double cream in the coffee instead of milk.. more filling, less carbs... mmm oh yes tastier too

Hi we are all different in what we can eat he other day I had 4 strawberries and a quarter of a banana in double cream didn't spike me. I have raspberries in greek Turkish yogurt doesn't spike me. I can tolerate 1 plum at a time a couple of times a week, just keep testing. The thing is too cut down the portion sizes, bulkbiker is right try cream in your coffee instead of milk. good luck

Oh yes, I've taken to big dollops of cream in my coffee first thing. Halts my BG rise in its track first thing and tastes wonderful. Only started this yesterday, but it will be my daily ritual from now on:)

It is incredible Micky when we just think "go in then I'll just try" and BOOM we see the results of how dramatic our carb intolerance is.

Hi all been quiet for the last month as life is busy, so I'm sticking to the new lifestyle fairly well( not calling it a diet anymore) few slips but levels on testing 5-7 ( I'm happy with that) also hurt my back at gym and have just been able to resume today so was dreading stepping on scales wow now down to 15st 12 just what I needed in encouragement so even if you change you diet you can see good results. Have also read the 8 week book and I feel as though I had been doing that with the advice I received on here( so big thank you guys) also have had my retinal tests and no damage. I'm in a good place now just got to keep going, diagnosed april made lifestyle changes and feeling good... Sorry for the long post
