Type 1 fruity taste

Hi im on novamix 30 and for the past few weeks my sugar levels have been high, but i keep getting a fruity taste in my mouth what could it be please

That's probably acetone from your blood sugars being too high. You should talk to your diabetes team about getting your levels under control.

hi my meter reads keytones and then it doesnt, i started on metformin this morning as well as my novamix it stayed high all day again but tonight after my 14units of novamix levels dropped to 9.1 and then 20 minutes later it dropped to 6 its all still confusing
 
When is your next appointment with your diabetes team?

Perhaps some things to ask them about are:

- information about high blood sugars and ketones. There is a level of blood sugar where most T1s test for ketones, and a level of ketones where they seek emergency medical help.

- what to do if levels are dropping, so you can tell if you are having a hypo.

- whether a fixed dose of novamix is best for you. Many T1s have an insulin like lantus or levemir once or twice a day plus adjusting a short acting type of insulin at every meal.
