This disease never fails to frustate. I have been diagnosed 30 years and still it is often impossible to manage.
Hoping for some ideas.
for 3 years I've eaten low carb which on the whole has done wonders for my control
When I'm at work I can be running along very steady all day between 4.5 - 6mmols, i can sit ar desk , walk around and it stays very stable.
the problem comes at night. I have an evening meal usually by 6pm which may be salmon green veg, butter some mayo
or steak /eggs . I usually take 2.5 - 3units of novorapid with my evening meal . Anymore and I will be down around 3mmols
sometimes it will rise to 7.5 -8 mmols and then go down and settle.
Now I can be sitting downstairs all evening with it stable, but as soon as I go upstairs and get ready for bed up it jumps to 10-12mmols
I then spend many hours trying to get it down.
I have tried giving 1-2 extra units of novorapid before bed but often it still lingers around 9 - 11mmols
It seems any additional insulin makes no difference whatsover.
I may end up giving another extra 1 unit at 3am and then eventually by 6am it may be down to 4-7mmols
2) the other thing I have noticed is with the juggluco app you obviously see your blood sugar continually. iF i'm sitting /lying still ,blood sugar all good, as soon as i get out of bed in the night up it shoots by about 3-4mmols ! does anyone elses readings shoot up with the slightest movement and then settle down if you just wait a few minutes. occasionally this reading then stays up.
where am i going wrong?
I take tresiba of 11.5 units at night..
