Hiya I hope someone can help. I've got a fungal infection on my foot that has spread to my hands. I have now got steroid cream but my Dr said it will just keep coming back till I'm in control. Has any one else had this as it's sore and really getting me down

Hi I didn't have it on my hands or feet. But I had constant thrush for over a year. No that I've started on insulin and my blood sugars are getting better it has gone.

Getting your blood sugar under better control will more than likely help with the infection and make you feel better overall, too. (I had thrush for months as well).

Does your surgery have a Specialist Diabetes Nurse that you can see? Or ask questions in the Type 2 forum.

Have you reduced your carbs? Its the first thing to do to get control.

I had one incident of thrush when first diagnosed, in the crease under my breasts. GP said it was a sign of out of control BG and gave me a prescription for Canestan, which worked. You can get it over the counter at any pharmacy. It may return if your BG is high.
