I have a fungal toe nail. I tried a lotion prescribed by my doctor and applied it weekly for one and a half years but it made no difference.i did not want to take the tablets because of serious health risks. The only other solutionsis are to put up with it or have it removed. The diabetic nurse advised against having it removed because of infection risk. The doctor thought it would be ok. I have diabetes 2 and have got my blood sugar down from 8.9 to 4.6 with diet. I would be interested to know what others with the same issue have done. Thankyou.

Hi @Waffle and congrats on getting your bgs down. Can I ask, are the 8.9 and 4.6 hba1c levels (presumably in %) or fasting blood sugar levels? Am guessing the latter...

Probably a stupid question, but have you tried all the possible ointments? My (limited) understanding was that there was more than one to try... Hopefully someone will come along soon with more relevant experience. (I'm limited to athlete's foot between toes.)

Neat lavender oil can be helpful. It's powerful stuff, so only use a drop at a time, and every other day.

I’ve the same problem, at first it was the 2nd toe on one foot, this toe had always grown split since a small child, a man trod on my foot! Then gradually other toes have gone the same, some not as bad as the smaller toe. There’s nothing you can do really, as is said, medication is very astringent, lengthy and often may not work. It has to go through your digestive system, I just can’t see how it can, better topical application on the nails. I’ve given up worrying about it. Hate the look, so I’ll just paint them with nail varnish
