I have had this happen to me a few times now since being diagnosed in December and would like to know if anyone else has experienced it -

All night long last night I kept waking up with a funny feeling in my tummy - the one you get when you go over the top on a roller coaster. Sometimes it happened when I was awake as well and perfectly calm, my tummy just 'flipped over' again and again. It was very unsettling and I didn't get a very good night as a result as I kept thinking that my BG might be going low and my body was kicking some adrenalin in there to keep me going. When I tested however, my levels were fine each time. Any ideas?

Tracy,

It could be a number of things and your best bet would be to talk this over with your GP.

Hi Tracy,

I had something similar for a couple of montha fter diagnosis but it eventually went away.

I put it down to my body still getting used to the lower BG levels after months of very high.

Sipping a little bit of ice cold water when I woke with that seemed to settle me a bit though I don't know that it would work for everyone.

Best of luck, hope it gets better soon.

hi dectjah
the way your describing sounds very similar to a light anxiety flutter. This is a perfectly normal feeling of butterflies ,next time it happens put your hand on your tummie when you inhale push your tummie in when you exhale let your tummie push your hand of repeat this until you feel ok. This is a breathing teqnique used world wide for palpations / anxiety / and basic well being . Let yourself control your breathing when this happens you should have a warm feeling of wellbeing . Should this fail contact your GP. Hope this helps :D

Hmm.. I wonder if my water trick was a case of calming by redirection then.

Very interesting point JF :)

mmmmm????? andys Ya got me thinking now

Could anxiety still be the reason even though I was perfectly calm at the time? I was asleep initially and then just lying there......have to admit being slightly wound up after several hours of it however!
Tracy

Maybe you are still slightly anxious and it is just surfacing in your dreams while you sleep?

Shakly ground for me since I very rarely, if ever, remember my dreams.

Hope you manage to get through it all.

Best of luck

Andy
