Gah! Possible start of foot ulcer?

Hi

Years ago when I was about 14, my left foot had literally loads of veruccas on it. They were on the ball and the heel. I had treatment done at a foot clinic using the acid stuff. My foot was red roar and very sore to walk on. In the end my mum took matters into her own hands and csrefully treated the veruccas herself using formaldehyde to make the skin go dead. Its more likely that the acid stuff has just made the skin a bit inflamed and red with any luck...

Do get it checked over.

A few years ago I developed an ulcer on the side of my foot after pulling a bit of dry skin off. It took 2 courses of antibiotics and I was given some iodine based dressings to use a daily basis. It took several weeks to heal but thankfully it's the only one I have had. I now keep my feet well moisturised to prevent dry skin or cracks.

I also had a verruca for several years on the bottom of my foot which the podiatrist was quite happy to treat. In the end they tried some silver nitrate which cleared it up.

I really hope this is easily sorted. I'm worrying as I know how quickly problems can progress in diabetic feet.
Thank you both for the replies.

I don't know how easy it is to get to see your podiatrist, but I went straight to the GP who gave me ABs and referred me to the nurse for dressings

I've lost all faith in the GPs to be honest. They refused to see me 2 years ago with on going kidney and urinary tract infections, even as a diabetic unable to eat for over a week. Ended up rushed to A&E and in hospital on a drip with injections of antibiotics to clear it. They do nothing more than repeated blood tests when I go about on exhaustion, pains and aches through my body which have hugely impacted on what used to be an active lifestyle I can no longer lead since recovering from said infections. They brushed off concerns I had over neuropathy in my feet for months, until a specialist in hospital was doing nerve conduction tests on me for carpal tunnel and decided to test my legs when I mentioned my issues, and yes, there was def neuropathy going on. I could rant on, but I'll not bore you!

I'll go through the hospital podiatrist if I can. :)

I hope it turns out to be nothing but a reaction to the verruca treatment , Hooked .
I'm amazed that it was prescribed for you, given your problems with sight and being diabetic
Good luck !

Lol, yes, me too! Thanks. x

Rang the diabetic team yesterday morning, explained the issue and was seen by a podiatrist before noon that day. :)
I explained the tale to him and he says he shall be writing my GP a "nice letter". He was completely shocked the GP prescribed what they did given my medical history; and the fact that I voiced my concerns at the time of the prescription being written.

There is damage to the foot caused by the acid. At the moment he cannot tell if the verruca is still there or not, but he suspects it has gone. He treated and dressed it. I'm to keep it covered up, not touch it and he stressed that he will continue to treat this until the foot is back to normal and he is happy.

So thankfully no ulcer as such; which is a big relief.

I think I'd be tempted to change GP...

I don't know what you used but if it's Bazuka (salicylic acid?) it does look a bit funky while it's getting rid of the verucca and can crack the skin...I've seen it for myself. If you have neuropathy though, wouldn't have thought it was a good idea to be putting acid on your foot. Fingers crossed it all ends well.
