Gaining weight elsewhere

I was doing so well on my low carb/high fat diet. However, I have felt for a while that I was putting on weight on my front. This morning I have woken up with what looks like a 9 month baby in my stomach. It's like I have blow up overnight. I seem to have lost from around my hips, but my stomach is now protruding over my toes.

I think I have been a bit lazy about my diet, and I will immediatly start cutting down on things I know might spike me. But I am confused as to why I am putting on weight where I didn't have it before (well, not a lot anyway) and why it seems to have come on in a matter of hours.

I'm so depressed, I don't want this weight again and I can feel it right now as I'm sitting at my desk, pressing down on my stomach. Has anyone else experienced this?

Have you considered that you may have uterine fibroids? Taking into account your age it could be a possibility. They can cause you to look pregnant.

soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I'd get something like that checked. It doesn't wsound "right"

I'd get it checked out too but it might also be worth thinking about whether there are things you're now eating that you weren't for a while - if I have wheat after being off it for a few weeks I can do a wonderful impression of a heavily pregnanterson! Sadly wine has the same effect - with both my belly goes back to its normal size after a day or so

Hello all

I'm hoping it's my diet. Because I was doing so well, I was adding back in things I used to avoid like the plague. I hadn't noticed any change in sugar levels, but maybe I've been running a bit high for a while, and then I ate some really quite terrible food - all processed. We've been buying cheap, and although I try to cook from scratch, the BF bought loads of cold meats and pate. Plus coleslaw. I think maybe the combination has made me bloat out. But it's the suddeness of it all. I've gone back to basics today but I still feel uncomfortable.

I have been for a check up fairly recently and they said that I was slightly fibrous...is that the right phrase?....basically, I don't have enough fibroids for them to cause me issues but there are signs. I do have a cyst but I was told that was perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.

I'm going to eat less and eat straight from the animal/ground for a few days. I always say we don't need to eat less but unfortuantely I seem to be an exception to this. I have to say yesterday was the first time I haven't felt starving all day which was weird.

The only reason I mentioned uterine fibroids is that I had one that went from being tennis ball sized to football sized in four months.

I was very anaemic and was put on iron tablets and this made it grow so much. If you are having more meat due to low carbing, this may have the same effect.

As other posters have suggested, you need a trip back to your GP.

Well, it looks like I have to go back to my doctor anyway - I need to discuss the hair loss with him in case he has something which can help, plus Evening Primrose oil can interfere with some medications. So I need to check first before I start taking the hurrendous amount they recommend you start with (6 tablets a day? For 12 weeks? It's £10 a bottle!).

There is a problem today - I feel really heavy headed with stomach pains. I may have eaten something which really doesn't agree with me. I'm thinking about going home, I feel so bad. But then again I often get weird symptoms which magically clear up in a matter of hours.

Diabetes - fun, isn't it?

Just adding here that I think I'm going through the change. However, I suspect that weight gain is due to increased insulin resistance and just extra water retention. I am still going to the doctor's - I've managed to lose a bit this week, so I am hoping that a more vigilant diet will help.
