Gary, Newly diagnosed type 2

he wants me to do regular blood test at the hospital on a monthly basis....is this a good thing?...... as I say another trip to hospital.

He was quite good to be fair and said he wants to see me monthly at the moment and he will monitor me that way, any changes got to call him.
An HbA1c test at hospital is more accurate for measuring your bs levels, so that is good, apart from the inconvenience of monthly visits to hospital.
Your GP does sound really good. Mine, and a lot of others from what has been reported on this forum, just told me to avoid sugar, come back for 3 month retest, and then for retest after 12 months. I have learnt just about everything I know now from this forum.

The forum allowed me to ask my GP further questions which has helped clear a few bits up, plus it has given me a good direction to go in and what is good and not good. I appreciate that it's different for everyone but it gives a greater understanding and a better direction to control it.
As you say a bit of an inconvenience going to and from hospital but more accurate, glad that I have a supportive GP really as I have heard how bad some are.

@PatsyB - Hi. I was referred to Endocrinologist over 2 years by my GP as he thought it was time that Insulin was introduced. And that's what I got = Insulin, and I am still attending the hospital until such time that I am discharged back to my GP's Diabetes Clinic. I don't think it is standard practise that everybody sees an Endocrinologist.:)
