See British gas has announced that Gas is going up 18% and Electricity by 16%, when is it going to end and when is the Government going to replace OFGEM with a regulator who has some power to keep these companies in check?

Nigel

The trouble is, they are all private run-for-profit organisations.

If you want their power then you pay the price or go without. Before our publicly owned utilities were sold off, national unit prices bore some relation to provision costs, but now they can charge what they like. . . and don't forget to add the exorbitant 'green taxes' that those mouthy do-gooders kept on about..oh yes, and of course there is 5% EU's VAT to add
.. .. ain't life grand being part of the EU? ..yeah, right!!

They are now saying on the news that the other big Gas & Electricity providers are going to follow British Gas and up their prices :(

Nigel

I thought I heard that they are going up more than that - 24% one of them!
Needless to say no amount of shouting about it is going to make the slightest difference. It's always the poorest of society that end up paying the trumpeter.... :x

Can we all go live in a tent and burn wood to cook our food and warm our toes or would they tax canvas and twigs

Any government that taxes ladies 'essentials' @ 20% should definately rethink their taxation policy   so I'm sure this lot would find a way of adding as much as they felt appropriate to keep the greenies quiet and the state coffers swollen ... grrrrr!!!
