Just wondering whether anybody has had a gastric balloon? What are your experiences with it? I’m looking at the swallowable/dissolvable one - Allurion, I believe it’s called?

I haven’t considered this, but having search for info, it looks expensive.
The theory is that the swallowed device makes you feel full, so reduces appetite ,I think?
Maybe some of our members have tried the method, and will be able to offer insights from their experience.

It’s a few thousand but I’m at the point where I feel I have tried so many things with no joy. I feel that if I can’t shift some of the weight I can get into a much better place with regards to exercise etc which will help further with the diabetes control etc

Not a balloon, but a friend went for the full gastric bypass. Worked well initially lost about 6 stone, but it's all piled back on now. Yes she can only eat small amounts but she eats constantly, and all carbs.
Imho it's the mindset needs to change, not the physical body. It's the why we eat, not the what alone.
You could look at Jen Unwins books on . And I particularly like the articles, podcasts and courses run by 2 Australian lady doctors Real Life Medicine

Complete and utter waste of time and money.
I had one a few years ago, lost quite a lot of weight initially, but that was basically as it made me so ill I couldn't keep any food down for about a week.
Next couple of months I lost a bit more slowly, then it seemed as if my body adapted to it. by the time it was due to come out 12 months later I was a mere 4lb less than I started.
so About £1000 per lb in weight loss . . . . . . . . and that doesn't include the loss of earnings (self employed) for the nearly 2 weeks I was off work after the insertion until I felt well enough to work again.

Some posts have been removed from this thread as they were off topic, @LouiseMck 's question is asking for experiences with a gastric balloon, not suggestions of other ways to lose weight.
