I was curious to know if any diabetics have this illness and if yes, what were your symptoms and experience with getting a diagnosis and health plan ie medications etc?
I am not sure if I would qualify for a formal diagnosis of gastroparesis but I have had some problems. I have been taking part in the bowel cancer screening program which means you have to go there having been cleaned out by some powerful laxatives. They don't seem to work for me.
Each year the doctor says, "Give him some more, they are not working". I assure you they are working but not as others seem to enjoy them. The last time they had me on regular laxatives for a week and then the super special stuff at the end of the week. While the surgeon was "up there" I asked if it worked and he said it hadn't.
Something is wrong in the digestive transit area but since I live in a house with three toilets I will cope. It's better than going to another bloody hospital.
EDIT: I understand that it is a diabetes thing.
There have been lots of threads about gastroparesis on the forums over the years. It'd probably be worthwhile doing a search for them. Dr Bernstein has a whole chapter on management of it in his book Diabetes Solution. Also a video on Youtube.
