Thanks for your good wishes everyone. I had the procedure yesterday and everything was normal nothing at all to worry about...I had a hysteroscopy...
They have put me on a 6 week course of HRT though never taken that before so don't know if I will have any side effects from that. No need for me to have worried about the general anaesthetic a canula in the back of my hand she told me to take deep breaths to circulate the oxygen in the bood I only remember taking two next thing I knew I was back in recovery and I felt fine when I came round A cup of tea and a scone back in the ward never tasted so good .One good thing about it I did have other tests done at the pre op including an ECG which showed my heart is perfectly normal and my bloods BP and pulse were all good so said I am very fit for my age so not bad for a 75 year old
On the 17th I have to go for my first cataract removal operation not worried at all about that I know many people including my husband who have had that done it is a very easy and quick procedure done with a local

That's brilliant.
I would have been just as nervous - not had a general since I was 16, and that was wisdom tooth extraction, which uses a whole different type of anaesthetic, I think. I would be seriously trepidacious to have one now!

Really pleased for you.

Very brave Annie , delighted it is all over ....you did well ....bet that sconce was very nice :). X

Well done Annie. All that worrying for nothing! Theatre staff really look after us.

I had HRT for 8 years because I had an early menopause at aged 40. I never had any side effects that I can recall, other than it kept me looking younger and fresher faced. Hormones are a wonderful thing!

Well Blue Tit I think I might be a bit to long in the tooth nowfor the HRT to make me look younger lol
Yes the staff were brilliant they put you at ease and really look after you I was silly to worry so much. My dodcor had already said she did not think there was much wrong so to try not to worry to much but what annoyed her the letter she had from the consultant of which I got a copy when he said he found something a bit worrying when he examined me in out pateints she said he shoukd not have said that before any tests had been done to see if there was anything to worry about so that added to my fear of the anaesthetic
All the best for today!

Pleased it's all over with Annie and all went well, you'll notice a big difference in your vision when you get the cataract operation done, it's like having a new pair of eyes.

So happy all went well. Rest up and take care for a while

Rest up and hope your mince-pies improve with time. I've had a few day procedures and a lot of major surgery over the last 5 years and to anybody out there facing such procedures....don't worry as I don't anymore, honest lol

My mom had a cataract removed from one eye last July, after putting it off for years, and was delighted with both the results and how "easy" the whole operation was.

I took her to the hospital today for a final check up on her other eye as she is due to have a cataract removed from that on the 19th.

Hope everything goes well for both of you

Glad you're ok Annie! Take carexxxx

my mom went for an endoscopy about a month ago and she was fine after, i went and got her from the hospital and she was pretty dopey which was quite nice actually! but was generally ok ;)
and i just recently had a general anastetic and found my bloods went up for the next day, no matter how much i tried to correct, i was in the 20s but i really dont think its anything to be too concerned about, i rang my nurses and they said its completely normal!
