General question - HCG levels?

Hi all,

Just a general question that I've been wondering about ... can your blood sugar levels affect the outcome of a pregnancy test? For example would high blood sugar cause the test not to pick up on the HCG hormone?

TIA x

If someone had such high blood glucose levels that glucose was spilling over into the urine, this would result in them producing large quantities of dilute urine due to an osmotic effect. In which case it is theoretically possible that the HCG levels would be too low to detect in a normal pregnancy test. Normally, early morning urine is used for the test as this is the most concentrated, but someone losing glucose in their urine cannot produce concentrated urine.
