Gestational Diabetes resolving with an Iron Infusion!!!

Hi, Has anyone else had Gestational Diabetes like my Daughter in law? She got it during her 1st pregnancy & was diet controlled all went well. Then her 2nd pregnancy she got it earlier & was on Insulin but then they discovered she was anaemic too, so had an Iron Infusion and the Gest Diab resolved it's self. Never heard of this before & can't see the connection between the two conditions. Neither can any of my colleagues ( midwives) either. She was cared for at a Tertiary Hospital so no misdiagosis. Thanks :)
I wasn't so lucky got it early in my 1st pregnancy staying as Type 1
 
The only thing I've heard of is that if you're anaemic, this can give a false hba1c, but if she was using insulin without causing constant hypo's that wouldn't answer it.
