Hi
I am a type 1 & on a pump.
Please can anyone advise, feeling like I have put on a bit of weight recently & has hit stomach area, feel like i've got a bit of a belly going on.
Am pretty active, walk my dogs each day & mission on when i'm walking, also got back into cycling ( trying to)
Food wise I tend to have porridge or eggs & bacon(cut fat off) for breakfast, bananas, more eggs, meat, cheese, grapes, ryvita, activia yoghurts. I did go through a stage of drinknig creamy coffees, camp coffe or just normal, with either evaporated milk or light double cream 9know its a fault but really tastes good) have pretty much stopped that now, may have a mocha when we're out but mostly drink lots of water
Please can anyone give some advice on how to trim/tone up a bit (or lose fat) & would you say what I eat is ok?

It's not so much about what you eat (well avoid processed junk) but more to do with how many calories you consume.

A rough guide I use is stone converted to lbs x 14 to work out daily calorific requirements.

So for arguments sake, lets say I weigh 12 stones, thats 12 x 14lbs which is 168lbs, great so times that by 14kcal, basically we're saying each lb of body weight will use 14kcal...so thats 2352kcal needed to maintain a body weight of 168lbs.

In which case if I want to lose weight I'd eat at a deficit, therefore take 500kcal away from 2352kcal, so 1852kcal would be consumed daily to lose weight. Adjust your calorific intake as you lose weight and go from there :) There are loads of other methods to work out how many calories the body needs, I've just given you an example of what I use, so do some research and go from there :)

To keep an eye on your calories I highly suggest MyFitnessPal, awesome app that'll count your calories for you!

As for the type of foods you consume, try to keep you diet clean & lean! So plenty of protein, moderate carbs and moderate fats! Avoid processed foods, sugary treats and alcohol, that along with some exercise will work wonders.

Also forget spot reduction, doing a million sit ups won't magically make your belly disappear :( It's a game of cals in -v- cals used.

Goodluck!

Re: get fit & tone up around stomach

I burned alot of abdominal fat by taking a combination of acai berry and African mango.
2 daily 15 minute sessions on a home cross trainer ad of course eating better than I was pre diagnosis.
I've managed to keep most of it off but it really is the hardest area to shift stubborn fats.
I read very good reports about green coffee bean extract specifically to target this but please don't just take my word for it do some research and ask your Doctor first.
Swimming is the less invasive method of course.

Where would you get the green coffee from.
Trying to stick with the LCHF diet, though do have porridge with almond milk for breakfast & out on bike every day & trying to do at least 8 mins skipping a day
