Hi all
I am type 1 up until recently my blood sugars were very poorly controlled until I had a word with myself and now have a great DN.
During the day I'm around 5.5 with a couple of lows, but in a morning they are 16+
I have my dinner about 7pm and depending what I eat take around 8 units .
I will have a snack maybe a plain biscuit about 9.30pm and take a further 6 units plus 28 units of slow acting before bed.
Have nothing else to eat and only drink water but my sugars are still high on a morning?
Can anyone give me any advice on how to get my morning test lower?.
I was diagnosed in Feb last year due to autoimmune disorder
Thank you

ideally you should not have a snack before bed and see how your morning BG looks then.......

if still high have a look at your evening meal.....

theres a good chance the dawn phenomenon is playing a part but best to eliminate any carb/insulin issues before moving on to that...

the 6 units at bed, what does that cover usually...?

Try and omit the 9.30pm snack and test your bg levels before bed and a couple of times through the night, after which test your bg levels upon waking, if your slow-acting insulin is set at the right dose your bg levels shouldn't fluctuate by more than 1.6mmol/l, if after a couple of nights testing you find your bg shoots-up during the night then ask your DSN about advice on adjusting your basal insulin.

Well I just started taking the 6 units to try and bring the mornings down. I am booked on to a BITES course to try and understand more about the insulin

well, it doesn't look like that 6 is too much anyway....lol.....but does sound a little too much for say a single biscuit.....

but soon you will know whats happening when you get the right training....

you dont need to know anything to cut out the carb before bed.....you can always go with a carb free snack if your starving.....;)

I think I have the snack because I'm worried I will go low during the night. I wouldn't say I'm starving it's more a habit if I'm been honest I just didn't think it would spike my sugars so much. Thank you guys I guess I need to lose team biscuit and see what it's like in the morning x
