Getting my test results back tomorrow.

Hi there, I am 34 and have had my two fasting sugar tests and my glucose tollerance test done last week (which left me feeling really ill afterwards). I have been having really bad thirst, headaches, really bad tiredness and some pains in my legs. I phoned for the results of my glucose tollerace tests and they wouldn't give me them over the phone, but said I had to go into the surgery instead and so I am not feeling very confident, in fact I am really weepy tonight. Is this normal to feel as anxious. I hate not knowing and the fact that my doctors normally say "Its a clear test" whenever you get a test for anything and it needs no more treatment. I am scared if I am honest and do not know what to ask, if it comes back that I am diabetic tomorrow. Help!!!!!!!!

Hi berrylover

It's normal to feel anxious, this result may have a huge impact on your future life. If you are diabetic, at least you know what's been causing your symptoms and can take action and start to feel better. If you're not, then you've ruled out a possible cause.

Unfortunately, anxiety is not good for blood sugar levels, so do try to relax (easier said than done, I know).

Good luck
Sue

Thank you Sue. I have been having a think and at least if I have a diagnosis then I will know that is what has been making me feel this way. I am soooo tired and soooo thirsty, its driving me demented.

Good luck berrylover with your results tomorrow, try not to worry too much, if it is diabetes then we will all do our best to help you deal with it.

Thinking of you

Thank you Karen, I have diabetes on both sides of my family, I am overweight and I haven't been looking after myself very well (due to mental health issues). I do appreciate the offer of support. My best friend is type 1 diabetic and she has been supporting me through my tests, but I don't want to overload her with my anxieties.

Dont stress, one thing at a time, you will get there and you can feel better again.

Try and have a good sleep tonight, and tomorrow we will look forward and try to make things better.

Karen x
