Getting officially un-diagnosed

I think Sue there should be a yes or no diagnoses,BUT thinking about it,as I have had a reading into the T2 end I suppose it means I can't regulate my insulin no matter how much I weigh.
All I'm doing now is avoiding as much sugar as possible to kind of cheat the body,I'm not cured.like saying I'm sober well I am because I haven't had a drink.

At present, the NHS view is that everyone who has had high BG for any length of time should get the eye screening, as it stops being going blind. There is at present not enough data to know if having BG controlled by diet removes the risk of eye problems, as the problems show up some time after high BG.

Your GP is also paid more if you have Type2 to cover the costs of AC1 tests etc, and I think that anyone who has ever had issues with Type2 should have AC1 tests done at least once a year.

I liked one commentary on the results of the DiRECT study - they were honest enough to say that the next thing to do would be to see what effect, if any, the reduced HbA1cs would have on long-term complications. So as you're saying, lowered HbA1c only means one thing for certain: lowered HbA1c.

Re eye problems, another worrying thing is that some people who rapidly improve their T2 also increase their risk of retinopathy. Sometimes it seems like you just can't win!

I'd just like to say thank you for all the input today and thought provoking replies it's certainly something to consider, for myself personally I will find the results of my latest test in the new year and see how 6 months of pure diet control have affected things.

I'm going to say congratulations even before you get the results, since I think decision to take control is the first important step and doing it is not easy, certainly not for me anyway!

I hope the results reflect the hard work and put a smile on your face!

Best wishes for a great result @bnorcutt! 6 months of pure diet control sounds like the winning ticket!:)
