Getting worse

Where do I go from here? I was at my endo this week and all my results were bad. A1C up to 6.6 from 6.3 and up from the previous readings. Weight up and therefore BMI (which is what he likes to use), Blood pressure up, cholestorol up, thyroid up. And I've been doing the exercise and carb counting but everything is so screwed and I thought I had been doing so well keeping the readings between 4 and 7. Obviously deluding myself. I'm coming up on 2 years since dx of type 1 and don't know what else to do. I've been put on hypothyroid meds but too soon to tell if they'll work. He wants to put me on cholesterol meds as well but I put that off until next time to see what side effects come from the thyroid meds. I've been searching the internet for info but can't seem to find good info for the combo of my problems, Have to stop this upward trend of everything. Anyone have any ideas. I'm on NovoRapid and Lantus. Thanks Carol

hya carol, i wouldnt worry too much as its only gone up a bit and under 7 is good, once your thyroid is under control it will prob go bk to normal, blood pressure will prob be because of your thyroid and also the weight gain, i too have type 1 and an underactive thyroid so if theres anything in particular u want to know just ask :D amanda
feel free to pm me

I also have thyroid problems (hyperthyroidism/overactive) and struggle with my weight. I think I have had thyroid problems since 1998, but was not diagnosed until 2003 because I had been wanting a blood test since 2001 just to be refused.

hya ronaldo,i too had an overactive first and ended up in coronary care, now mine doesnt work at all :?

sorry your feeling bad ronaldo, i do know how u feel tho as ive type 1 ,thyroid and have also been diagnosed recently with menieres, dont think of diabetes as ruining your life, its certainly made me healthier and im no longer obese since diagnosis :?

Ronaldo, if you have doubled your weight, what is your thyroid doing?
It's probably worth trying to go low carb for a couple of weeks and seeing what effect that has on your BGs and weight.

Agrred, the thyroid thing can make a huge difference to BG control (and many other things) when properly medicated. It's not uncommon alongside Type 1 and also with some Type 2s. It's comparatively easy to treat so why some medics make such a song and dance about refusing treatment or even tests I have no clue. I've seen this many times here and also in Canada and parts of the US where moving or changing doctors has had major benefits.
