Giving blood?

Sorry if this is posted anywhere else, couldn't seem to find one. Anyway I was wondering if Type 1 diabetics were able to give blood, I've been online and have looked but some people say you can and some say you can't. Very confused so thought coming on here may help me get an answer, I've always wanted to give blood it would be disappointing if I wasn't able to. Thanks!

As far as I'm aware we can't give blood as type 1's but we can become organ donors.

I used to donate regularly until I was diagnosed. Unfortunately insulin dependant diabetics cannot donate blood. Now I drive my friend to the centre so they can instead
