Fish, lazy people and my diabetic nurse !
I had Forxiga added to my medication about a year ago, it worked fine for 6 months and I lost 3 lb. However I am now no longer losing weight and I am getting bouts of thrush. Does Gliclazide do the same as Forxiga, is it more effective ?

Definitely not. I went the other way from gliclazide to forxiga. 3 months on gliclazide gained a stone with no change to diet/exercise. As I understand it it makes your body produce more insulin, which in turn can make yoy gain weight. Forxiga stops the carbs/sugar you eat being absorbed into your bloodstream, and keeps it in your pee m which uscwh5 it can cause thrush/uti's. Make sure you get enough to drink, at least 2 litres a day. I tend to aim for between 3 and 4

Hi

I am on forxiga and have no issues with UTI's or thrush. Every gram of carbohydrate you eat turns to blood sugar, forxiga flushes the sugars out through your urine which feeds thrush. Less carbs in your diet means less glucose in your urine which means less chance of thrush. Hope this helps and good luck :)

Thank you, I have tests again in 2 weeks time and have decided I am going to try a low carb diet. It rather worried me last check up with DN when she said well next time we will see about doubling the metformin, no mention of we will see what your results are ! I rather feel I am being rail roaded into maximum meds with very little thought.

I was on forxiga but made a mistake in not cutting out carbs. I had been on gliclazide but gained 3 stone. Now on insulin and sitagliptin, it is a struggle but I have lost a little weight since moving to Lchf
