Hello All - A Very Happy New Year to one and all!
Haven't been on here for a while. Possibly because I've been trying to forget I've got T2 and shoved my head up my butt....anyway, medication is 80mg Gliclazide twice daily and 400mg x 3 Gabapentin for Neuropathy which hasn't changed since first diagnosis last year in 2016
When first diagnosed I followed a very strict diet and lost at least a stone and a half - but then thought - STUFF this for a game of soldiers and added the odd biscuit/cake/sweet treat and sinful goodie back to my daily diet and weight went back on (I know I'm a twit :0) and am back on diet now), but now I seem to have a sensitive stomach and just wondered if its anything to do with the Gliclazide not being enough because of the extra weight ?
I had an appt with a neurologist who sent me for an MRI and Electrical tests due to Foot Drop in left foot and it was found I had degeneration in my Lumbarsacral region and profound sensorimotor neuropathy.............
Reason for this message is I just wondered if anyone else has the same neuropathy/back problems and what symptoms they have and anyone else had problems with long term use of Gliclazide?
I do have to make an appt for a blood test (problem being I won't give up my blood ;( and then a Dr appt ref diabetes......
Goodwill to All

Ive been on Glic for 21 years and havnt got any problems I can attribute to that medication
The effectivness of Glic is affected by weight - for me a few pounds either way doent seem to make any difference but if I go up by half a stone then control becomes more difficult.
Sounds like your Doc may be going to request an hba1c prior to discussion re diabetes - that will give a good idea of your blood sugars over the last 2-3 months which you can use to guide decision making re next steps on medication / diet
