Gliclazide not working talking bout insulin !!

Been type 2 for over 20 years and on lots of different meds. Been on Gliclazide since September going up in doses . Not bringing my overnight sugars down!! D nurse talking bout insulin now I’m not happy . And advise please
 
Your fasting (morning) BG is always the last to come down see the thread on the Dawn Phenomenon. As you can see in my signature there are lots of medication options. It's taken almost 10 years to find what works for my body, and at several points one of the DN's a my GP's was pushing for insulin. Now I have no objections to insulin, but as a type 2 if my body is resistant to insulin isn't putting more of it into my body defeating the object? I'm at a sustainable (for me) level of lowish carb and slowly losing weight. My most recent HbAc1 equivalent was 52. I almost fell off of my chair, and made the DN check her calculations 3 times before I believed her :) . Have you made use of the free Dexcom trial? Even just the 10 free one will give you an idea of where you are at

I hear you. I'm in a similar situation! My DN wants me to go on insulin :( I'm not happy about it. And yes seems to me 'a last resort.
 
Had my 2 week catch up with DN face to face talked about my numbers etc and about different types of insulin. Basically she said my poor pancreas is getting worn out from trying to produce insulin. If I went on insulin it hopefully wouldn’t be forever could be 6 or 12 months . I now have a FreeStyle Libre 2 system on my arm!! What a flipping game changer . No more pricking the fingers . Constant updates of blood sugars via my phone app and connected to surgery as well. Feel happier now than a long time ago. Another meet with DN in 2 weeks .
