Hi all
Ive been feeling like poo for 4 weeks after start taking Gliclazide.

The first week i had stomach cramps and i had a panic/anxiety attack

Even though i was able to eat and drink pee and poo ok i still had these stomach cramps.

Buscapan,peto besmal,stomach powders did nothing.

I have been going for a walk with a hot water bottle on belly whilst walking which helps but i still have slight anxiety episodes (which ive never ever had)
Also nauseous and shakes,

Seeing doctor on fri about this as i had other simtoms side effects connected with gliclazide.

And i was getting on so well lol.

Can gliclazide cause problems?

Along with their useful effects, most medicines can cause unwanted side-effects although not everyone experiences them. The table below contains some of the more common ones associated with gliclazide. You will find a full list in the manufacturer's information leaflet supplied with your medicine. The unwanted effects often improve as your body adjusts to the new medicine, but speak with your doctor or pharmacist if any of the following side-effects continue or become troublesome.

Common gliclazide side-effects What can I do if I experience this?
Feeling sick or being sick, indigestion Stick to simple meals - avoid rich or spicy food. Make sure you take your tablets after you have eaten something
Loose, watery stools (diarrhoea) Drink plenty of water to replace any lost fluids
Constipation Eat a well-balanced diet and drink plenty of water
Increased weight Eat a well-balanced diet but continue to eat regularly - do not skip meals
Signs of low blood sugar: feeling shaky or anxious, sweating, looking pale, feeling hungry, feeling that your heart is pounding (palpitations), feeling dizzy Eat something containing sugar, such as a biscuit or a sugary drink (not diet), and follow this up with a snack such as a sandwich. Tell your doctor if you notice these symptoms

Bloods are inbetween 5.9mmol and 7.
The cramps have been constant.
Its not painful but its annoying and going for a walk with hot water bottle on gut is great and ease the the discomfort

I take 320mg a day of these and haven't experienced any problems with them. Speak to your G.P definitely but could be low B.S. so your dose maybe too high
