Hi everyone
Can I just ask, does everyone take their gliclazide 30 minutes before food? I woke up today feeling really hungry and weak. My bloods were good at 5.1 a,d I took my gliclazide. I then had to wait half hour before I could eat breakfast. Also mornings when i work are a nightmare, always rushing around not always having the time to wait 30 minutes until i can eat. Does anyone else haveroblems similar to this or do you take your gliclazide whilst eating? Any input/suggestions would be great.
 
They say it works best taken 20minutes before a meal but to be honest I take mine about 5-10minutes before my breakfast and evening meal. I take it with my met as I am cooking my meal - I have taken mine at times as my meal is dished up as I have forgotten until the last minute or life gets in the way, I have never noticed any discernible difference in my numbers either way
 
I always take mine (and my Metformin) with my breakfast and evening meal...not before it. That's what I was told to do and I've been doing it for years with no ill effects (apart from the usual Metformin ones!). The personalised label on the box just says to take twice daily, and the leaflet inside the box says nothing at all about timing of doses, except to say that they should be taken exactly as instructed by the doctor. I am also on Victoza (liraglutide)...don't know if that affects the timing of the Glic.

i always take mine as soon as i get up then sort out my breakfast ect that's how D/N adviced me to take it never mentioned waiting for 30min before eating
 
I have spoken to my doctor today at my appointment. He has also advised I can take it with meals and don't have to wait 30 minutes, he was surprised the pharmacist had put that on the label. No more waiting around on busy work mornings no more, thank goodness as time is precious early in the mornings and don't have time to wait around half an hour. Evenings were not too bad as I would take it whilst I was cooking my evening meal, but would sometimes forget oopppsss. Thanks for everyone's replies and advice xx
