Hey folks,

Been on Glimepiride since my diagnosis and just today started to take linagliptin as part of the combo therapy as directed by my DN.

Has anyone on the forum had this SPECIFIC combination and had results that were expected or had the complete opposite?? As I took them this morning and I have been bouncing between 9 and 17mmol! Where as before being just on Glimepiride i was between 6 and 9 mmol.

Just a tad concerned..

Views from people who are on this combo is greatly appreciated.

Hi. Glimepiride is in the sulfonyl urea group and Linagliptin in the Gliptin group. I was on Gliclazide and Sitagliptin for a few years with no issues. These are variants of drugs in the same groups. I can't explain your blood sugar spikes which do sound unusual. If the problem continues, a change to other drugs in the same groups may help or you may just be reacting to the Linagliptin and possibly any Gliptin?
