I've just been given the GlucoMen areo 2K to use for ketone testing and it looks as if it can be connected to a phone with NFC, but I'm having real difficulties getting it to connect.. anyone been successful?

What iPhone? I'm not an Apple geek by any stretch, but afaik NFC doesn't work automatically on 6s and older.

HTH

I may be wrong here but from everything I have read Apple doesn't do NFC except for Applepay, and the chip is locked down somewhat, impossible to be used by 3rd party apps. NFC is more of an Android thing tbh. You need a meter that connects through BT or WiFi to your iPhone. The Contour Next One works flawlessly.

I’m not really sure that’s true- I think they’ve allowed 3rd party now as it works with Freestyle Libre’

Ok, it's NFC compatible in that case. It must be down to the app provider. I think that needs to be your first contact. Do they claim to run on iPhone 8?

Thanks! I will contact them. I just assumed that because I could download the app it would work!

I'm new to all this and got given a Glucomen Areo with NFC which didn't work with an iPhone XR. I phoned up and a very helpful lady said there are different batches of the meter, some work with iPhones some don't so she sent me a new meter from a batch with should work, it arrived the next day but still didn't work, the iPhone goes looking for an NFC tag but the meter doesn't appear to provide one. Luckily they sent me a Bluetooth dongle as well, and this is simple to use, although less elegant than NFC. Hope this helps anyone else who is looking at this rather old thread.
