Hi I am being taken off metformin and put on Glucophage can any one please tell me if they had any side effects with these I hate changing to some thing new any help would be appreciated

Same dosage? I thought Metformin and Glucophage were the same thing, one being cheaper than the other.
Glucophage is the slow release one and many members find it creates less side effects than the ordinary Metformin does.

Metformin is the name for Metformin Hydrochloride. One brand name is Glucophage. When it's the Slow Release version there are various brand names including Glucophage SR. The SR version causes far fewer if any stomach/bowel effects
That sounds good Daibell also I take 18 units at night of lantus I am worried may cause hypo through night but dn said to stay on same dosage said should be fine
I think there's no difference in formula. I think your doctor just forgot what they initially prescribed for you or just uses Glucophage or Metformin as the mood taken them! I wouldn't worry!

There are just different brands and manufacturers of metformin in both its standard and slow release forms, and I suspect because of cost cutting the pharmacies may well go for the best current deal (just as we do when shopping around...
)My usual/standard brand is Metabet SR but I've occasionally been given Glucophage instead when my pharmacist couldn't get the Metabet, and I don't have an issue with either (though there was another SR brand I had for a short while which I did have issues with.)

I've to use "officially" Glucopage™ standard release that costs a bit more of Generic Metformin (Teva and Mylan) - I am allowed to swap the brands given the sabe dose.
You could find some difference on pill coating - Teva isn't coated and it's a bit bitter where GLucophage and Mylan Metformine are coated so haven't any bitter taste.
